LOWCOUNTRY BIODIVERSITY FOUNDATION
“Conserving Our Ecological Heritage”
The Lowcountry Biodiversity Foundation is a South Carolina non-profit corporation incorporated by the SC Secretary of State on May 15, 2011. The Foundation operates exclusively for charitable, educational and scientific purposes as a tax exempt, 501(c)(3), non-profit entity focusing on the biodiversity of the South Carolina Lowcountry.
Mission: The mission of the Lowcountry Biodiversity Foundation is to “promote educational and scientific activities that support the value, awareness and conservation of the SC Lowcountry’s rich biological and ecological resources”.
The Foundation encourages, supports and promotes activities focused on the value of the SC Lowcountry’s biodiversity and serves as an educational and information resource center for Lowcountry biodiversity. Though focused on the Lowcountry, the Foundation’s activities may extend world-wide.
Activities: The Lowcountry Biodiversity Foundation shall carry out its mission by undertaking and engaging in, inter alia, the following activities:
Conduct biodiversity research, surveys and exploration.
Catalogue biodiversity.
Maintain a digital image library of various aspects of biodiversity.
Disseminate information on biodiversity values through the internet, public lectures, seminars, printed material, field guides, etc.
Assist educational institutions and non-government organizations to promote biodiversity conservation and education.
Partner world-wide with non-profit research and educational entities and foundations.
Seek grants and donations to promote research, exploration and educational activities.
